🌙 Complete Guide: The End of Ramadan

Days 21 to 30
Deliverance and the Most Precious Nights

Introduction: The Final Sprint Begins

You have reached it. The first twenty days of Ramadān are behind you. At this point, many believers begin to feel accumulated fatigue. Yet this is precisely when the most precious period of the month begins.

The last ten nights are the nights of deliverance from the Fire. It is also during these nights that Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Decree, occurs, a night better than one thousand months.

The Prophet Muḥammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, would intensify his worship during this period more than during the rest of the month.

ʿĀʾisha, may Allah be pleased with her, reported:

“When the last ten nights of Ramadān began, the Prophet Muḥammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, would spend the night in prayer, awaken his family, and increase his efforts in worship.”

(Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)

These nights are the spiritual summit of Ramadān. Every prayer, every supplication, and every act of goodness can transform an entire life and an afterlife for eternity.

The 3 C’s of the Last Ten Nights

To fully benefit from these exceptional nights, remember a simple rule: the 3 C’s. Three simple attitudes that can transform your nights and multiply your rewards.

1. Charitable Giving at Night and in Discretion

The Prophet Muḥammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, encouraged charity given discreetly.

He said:

“Among the seven categories of people whom Allah will shade under His shade on the Day when there will be no shade except His: a man who gives charity so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given.”

(Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)

Giving during the last ten nights is an immense opportunity. Even a small charity given during Laylat al-Qadr may be worth more than one thousand months of worship.

Allah says in the Qur’an:

Those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah by night and by day, secretly and publicly, will have their reward with their Lord. No fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.

(Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:274)

Even a small amount given each night can become an immense treasure in the Hereafter.

2. Compassion

The last ten nights are also a time to expand the heart.

Make supplications not only for yourself but also for others: your loved ones, the sick, those in hardship, and even those you do not know.

The Prophet Muḥammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:

The supplication of a Muslim for his brother in his absence is answered. An angel stands at his head, and every time he supplicates for his brother, the angel says: ‘Āmīn, and for you the same.’

(Sahih Muslim)

Compassion can also appear through simple acts: calling a loved one, checking on someone who is alone, or visiting a sick person.

3. Consciousness of the Heart

The last ten nights are a privileged time to return to Allah with sincerity.

It is a moment to be aware of one’s actions, to recognize one’s mistakes, and to seek forgiveness with hope.

Allah says in the Qur’an:

Say: O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

(Surah Az-Zumar, 39:53)

The believer looks at the past with clarity but the future with hope. These nights may be the moment for a sincere return to Allah and a new beginning for the heart. 🌙

Laylat al-Qadr: the night better than one thousand months

At the heart of the last ten nights lies Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Decree.

Allah says:

“The Night of Al-Qadr is better than one thousand months.”

(Surah Al-Qadr, 97:3)

One thousand months represent more than eighty-three years of worship.

The Prophet Muḥammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:

“Seek Laylat al-Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten nights of Ramadān.”

(Sahih al-Bukhari)

The most sought-after nights are:

  • the 21st night

  • the 23rd night

  • the 25th night

  • the 27th night

  • the 29th night

This is why believers increase their efforts in worship during all these nights.

Essential Supplications (Days 21 to 30)

During the last ten nights of Ramadān, supplications take on special importance. It is a time when the believer asks for forgiveness, mercy, and deliverance from the Fire.

Here are some essential supplications to repeat frequently during these blessed nights.

The supplication of Laylat al-Qadr

ʿĀʾisha, may Allah be pleased with her, asked the Prophet Muḥammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him:

“O Messenger of Allah, if I know which night is Laylat al-Qadr, what should I say?”

He replied:

Say:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي

Allahumma innaka ʿafuwwun tuḥibbu al-ʿafwa faʿfu ʿannī

Translation:

“O Allah, You are Pardoning and You love to pardon, so pardon me.”

(Sunan At-Tirmidhi)

The complete supplication for this life and the Hereafter

Allah teaches in the Qur’an a very comprehensive supplication:

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً
وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً
وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Rabbana atina fi d-dunya hasanatan
wa fi al-akhirati hasanatan
wa qina adhaba an-nar

Translation:

“Our Lord, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”

(Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:201)

Asking for Paradise and protection from the Fire

The Prophet Muḥammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:

“Whoever asks Allah for Paradise three times, Paradise says:
O Allah, admit him into Paradise.

And whoever seeks protection from the Fire three times, the Fire says:
O Allah, protect him from the Fire.”

(Reported by At-Tirmidhi)

Supplication:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْجَنَّةَ
وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ النَّارِ

Allahumma inni as’aluka al-jannah
wa aʿudhu bika mina an-nar

Translation:

“O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and I seek refuge with You from the Fire.”

Asking for Al-Firdaws

The Prophet Muḥammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:

“When you ask Allah for Paradise, ask Him for Al-Firdaws, for it is the highest level of Paradise and the center of Paradise.”

(Sahih al-Bukhari)

Supplication:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْفِرْدَوْسَ الأَعْلَى مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ

Allahumma inni as’aluka al-Firdaws al-aʿla min al-jannah

Translation:

“O Allah, I ask You for the highest level of Paradise: Al-Firdaws.”
